Two-year-olds like to be independent! Favorite words are "Mine" and "No" and "I do it!" Emotions take on a roller-coaster quality, going from excitement to anger to laughter within a few moments. A great deal of time is spent exploring, pushing, pulling, filling, and touching.

Two-year-olds are surer of themselves and of what they can do as they grow. Their bodies stretch out, and most will lose the potbellied look during this third year of life. Their appetites lessen, and they may be particular about food. They are still growing fairly rapidly.

Class Ratio: 1 adult to 9 children. Maximum of 18 children in the room.

Daily Sheets: You will receive a daily sheet of your child’s activities each day. Information includes diaper changes, feedings and nap time.

Folder: Check your child’s folder each day. Daily sheets, artwork and notices from management are kept in the folders.

For Parents of Little Two's:

Items to bring: Diapers, wipes, change of clothes (at least 2 full sets) Blanket. Shoes must be worn (for outside play).

Bottles and Pacifiers: BOTTLES ARE NOT PERMITTED IN THE TWO YEAR OLD ROOM. Pacifiers will be allowed under special circumstances.

Potty Training: Your child will be assisted with potty training in this room. Be sure to bring plenty of extra clothes when your child begins to use the potty. Soiled clothing will be placed in a plastic bag in your child’s cubby.

Meals: Breakfast is served at 8:30 a.m. Lunch is served at 11:30 a.m. and afternoon snack is served at 2:30 p.m. The daily menu is posted in the lobby.

Linens: Your child will be assigned a mat for nap time. Mat sheets are washed weekly, more often if needed. You do not have to provide a sheet unless your child is allergic or sensitive to the laundry detergent we use (industrial strength).

Nap: TWO’S typically nap between 12:15p.m. - 2:15p.m.

Outside Time:  The children play outdoors in the morning as well as the afternoon. Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for outdoor play. They will play outside if the temperature is between 35 and 95 degrees in accordance to NC State Law.

Medication: Medication will be administered to your child provided we have a completed medicine slip. Medicine slips must be specific- “as needed” cannot appear on the slip. DO Not leave medication in your diaper bag or cubbies. All medication (including powder, chapstick and diaper cream) must be secured in a locked medicine box in accordance to NC State Law.

Moving Up: Little two-year olds typically move up to the three year old room when they turn three. Your child will visit the three-year-old room on several occasions before he/she move up. DIAPERS AND PULL UPS ARE NOT PERMITTED IN THE THREE-YEAR OLD ROOM.

Drop-off Time: Children must be dropped off by 10 a.m. Children are not to be dropped off after 10 a.m.

Sick Policy: If your child is sent home due to a fever, vomiting or diarrhea, he/she must remain home for a minimum of 24 hours. This not only protects your child but it also protects the other children in the room. Please see your Parent Handbook for details.
