Babies grow at a tremendous rate. By the end of the first year, most will have tripled in birth weight and doubled in length. By their first birthday, most infants will be crawling or even taking a timid first step!

The most essential ingredient in infant care is a warm, responsive, and dependable adult caregiver. We spend lots of time holding, cuddling, and playing with the infants in our care. You will be richly rewarded with babbles, smiles, and squeals of laughter.

Ratio: 1 adult to 5 babies, maximum of 8 babies in the room.

Daily Sheets:
You will receive a daily sheet of your baby’s activities each day. Information includes diaper changes, feedings, naps and items needed.

For Parents with Infants

Items to bring with your baby : Bottles, Baby Food, Diapers, Wipes, Change of Clothes (at least 2 full sets), Blanket

Bottles: Other than heating a bottle, we are not permitted to prepare your baby’s bottle in any way. The parent/ guardian must prepare bottles. Bottles must be labeled with your child’s name and the date (we suggest using masking tape) in accordance with NC State Law. Empty bottles will be rinsed and stored in your child’s cubby.

Infant Feeding Schedule: An infant feeding schedule is required for your child. ANY changes must be made in writing. All schedules will be posted in the room in accordance with NC State Law.

Linens: Your child will be assigned a crib. Crib sheets are changed at least once a day, more often if necessary. You do not have to provide a sheet unless your child is allergic or sensitive to the laundry detergent we use (industrial strength).

Medication: Medication will be administered to your child provided we have a completed medicine slip. Medicine slips must be specific- “as needed” cannot appear on the slip. Fever reducers (Tylenol, Motrin) require a doctor’s note. This note can be kept on file. Do Not leave medication in your diaper bag. All medication (including powder, chapstick and diaper cream) must be secured in a locked medicine box in accordance to NC State Law.

Moving up: Babies typically move up to the Waddler Room when they become mobile.

Drop-off Time: Babies must be dropped off by 10 a.m. Children are not to be dropped off after 10 a.m. without prior notice or a phone call.

Sick Policy: If your baby is sent home due to a fever, vomiting or diarrhea, he/she must remain home for a minimum of 24 hours. This not only protects your child but it also protects the other children in the room. Please see your Parent Handbook for details.
